VIROQUA Darlene Joan Dickman, age 74, died Sunday June 5, 2016 at the Bland Bekkedal Center for Hospice Care. Darlene Joan Dickman, 74, of Viroqua passed away peacefully surrounded by family Sunday, June 5, 2016, at the Bland Bekkedal Center for Hospice Care after a short illness. Born March 30, 1942 in rural Viroqua, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Gertrude Hirschfield (nee Ellefson). Growing up she loved the outdoors and was an avid horse rider and racer. She married Richard LaVern George Dickman September 4, 1965 in Milwaukee where she raised her family and worked at the Fireside Restaurant before moving to rural Viroqua (Purdy Valley) area in 1974. She was a homemaker who raised a large garden every summer canning an abundance of goodies for her family along with raising tobacco. Richard passed away May 17, 1985. In February 1989, Darlene moved to Viroqua. She worked at VARC, Inc. After retirement, she enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her many friends and family. Darlene and Richard had four daughters, Kristy (Karl Wiltrout) of Viroqua, Lisa (Allan Hass) of Westby, Cindy (David Jefson) of Westby and Amy (Chuck Muller) of Tomah. Amy passed away from breast cancer January 8, 2011. Darlene is survived by daughters, Kristy, Lisa and Cindy. Granddaughters, Madelyn and Josie Wiltrout, Katie (Jed Tracy), Tammy Hass, Megan Hass (friend Nick Hase), Shana (Dan Adams), Jessica Muller, Rebecca Muller (fianc Dylan Koel), Erica (Michael Baumbach). Great grandchildren, Jackson, Kelsey and Kennedy Tracy, Caleb Hass, Matthew, Shane and Dakotah Adams. Brother Raymond (Bonnie) Hirschfield, sister-in-law Lucille Ellefson. Many nieces, nephews and friends. Darlene was preceded in death by her husband Richard, daughter Amy, parents, Elmer and Gertrude, infant sister, JoAnn Hirschfield, brothers, Don and Everett Hirschfield and Julius "DeVern" Ellefson and in-laws George and Elizabeth Dickman. Special thanks to staff at Vernon Memorial Hospital, Bland Bekkedal Center for Hospice and to friends and family for the prayers, loving care and support given to Darlene. Funeral Services will be 12:30pm on Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Friday from 11:00am until time of service. Burial will follow in the Viroqua Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
