Darlene Jeanette Stout, 92, of La Farge, died Sunday, March 8, 2020. Darlene Jeanette Stout, 92, of La Farge, WI, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2020, at the Bland Bekkedal Center for Hospice Care. Darlene was born on December 1, 1927, in La Farge, to Bertha (Cowee) and Gene Calhoon. After graduating from La Farge High School Darlene attended UW Whitewater for two years. She married George Stout on April 20, 1947. They lived in Madison and Darlene worked for the Board of Education. After moving back to La Farge, Darlene worked at the Utility Office and the La Farge State Bank. She then attended UW La Crosse and received her elementary education degree, followed by a business degree from UW Whitewater. Darlene then taught business classes at La Farge High School. Darlene was a 70-year member of the La Farge United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, knitting and following Wisconsin sports. She never turned down an opportunity to go downtown for lunch. She also enjoyed collecting La Farge memorabilia Darlene is survived by her son, Gary (Betty) of Madison; daughter, Georgia (Jeff) Everson of Viola; son-in-law, Chad Hanstedt of Gilbert, Arizona; granddaughters, Tracy Stout, Carmen Jaynes (Chris), Dana Kleiman, Jill Stoltz (Ron), Lea Ann Everson (Naser) and Olivia Hanstedt; great-granddaughters, Tashaina, Ellie, Abby, Lilly and Ava; great-great-grandson, Alex; brother-in-law, Clarence Stout of Cashton, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband George; son Jerry; daughter Vickie; sisters Maxine Kennedy and Arlene Mick; and brother Merton. Darlenes family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her friends at Bethel Parkside, especially Bev. Without their help she would not have been able to remain at home as long as she did. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 12, at the La Farge United Methodist Church, 212 W. Penn St. in La Farge. Friends may call at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 203 N. State St in La Farge on Wednesday, March 11, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Thursday. Burial will be at the Bear Creek Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the La Farge United Methodist Church, the Bland Bekkedal Hospice Center, La Farge Alumni and Friends or the La Farge Ambulance Service.
