Darlene Lois Patterson

Darlene Lois Patterson, age 84 of Viroqua, died Friday July 26, 2019. Darlene was born in Readstown WI on March 12, 1935 to Everett and Velma (Shepherd) Chroninger. She married Dale Robert Patterson on June 21, 1952 and together raised four wonderful children. They farmed together, and were married for 49-plus years until Dales passing on October 3, 2001. Darlene life, like so many, was interrupted with love, family and children, so it wasnt until 1967 that she was able to go back to school, in classrooms and graduate high school. Beyond her love of family was her devotion to her Lord, which kept her at peace and sustained her always. She was a life long member of the Church of Christ in Readstown. Darlene loved to sing, and she loved her flowers. She was an avid sower and enjoyed baking more than anything, particularly sweets and pies, especially apple pies, of all sorts. Once baking 90 pies for eating and freezing, hence the need for three automatic apple peelers. It kept the family busy. Darlene was a member of a knitting club and shared her talents by teaching knitting to 4-H clubs. She is survived by; her children Gary (Lynn) Patterson of Westby, Carolyn (Bernie) Larry of La Farge, Patrick (Jocelyn) Patterson of Viroqua, and Alan (Nikki) Bankes of Soldiers Grove; her grandchildren Tracy Patterson, Brian (Karen) Patterson, Nathan Patterson and Melissa Wilson and two great-grandchildren Carlina and Lia Patterson. Further surviving are her sisters; Carol (Denver) Kelly and Judy (Harland) Campbell and numerous nieces and nephews. Darlene was preceded in death by; her husband Dale, her parents, her sisters Lorretta Hansen and Joyce Sweeney, her brother Carson Chroninger, and an infant sister and brother Sandra Jean and Merlin Lee, and an infant son Kelly. God bless our memories of Darlene Patterson, and may the Lord and a host of angels welcome her home. Funeral Services for Darlene will be Wednesday July 31, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Church of Christ in Readstown. Pastor Dave Franks will officiate with burial to follow at Liberty Pole Cemetery. Friends may call on the family during Visitations Tuesday evening July 30, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua, or at the church Wednesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, before the service begins. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials can be directed to the Readstown, Church of Christ in Darlenes name.
