Darrel Lee, age 74 of DeSoto, died Monday, September 15, 2008. Darrel D. Lee, age 74 of rural DeSoto, died Monday, September 15, 2008 at Gundersen-Lutheran in LaCrosse. He was born on June 6, 1934 in Eastman, Wisconsin to Adolph and Mary (Ghelf) Lee. Darrel served as a 3rd Class Gunners Mate in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1956 and traveled to many parts of the world. He was a member of the West Salem American Legion Post. Darrel was Labor Leader for Laborers Local 140 beginning in January of 1967, and was also the International Rep from 1990 until his retirement on December 31, 1992. On April 16, 1983 he was united in marriage to Mary (Jensen) in Sparta, Wisconsin. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, visiting with friends, western movies and horseback riding. He had also been a part of the LaCrosse County Mounted Sheriffs Posse. In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by four children: Sheryl Lee, Kevin (Rose Olson), Blaine (Janita) all of West Salem, and Kristina (William) Pryor of Oakdale, MN; four grandchildren: Tara, Ryan, Jake and Chelsey; four siblings: Don (Debbie) Lee of Madison, Betty (Verne) Flamme of Sun Prairie, Judy (Gordon) Johnson of Westby and Danny (Pam) Lee of Westby; nieces; nephews; and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Gerildene Ames. Blessed be his memory. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 19, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at New Hope United Methodist Church at Red Mound, rural DeSoto with Pastor Bill Busch officiating. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker (Hwy 56) in Viroqua. Friends may also call at the church on Friday after 9:30 a.m. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Homes of DeSoto and Viroqua are assisting the family.
