David G. Halverson, age 63 of Soldiers Grove, died Saturday, June 12, 2010 . David G. Halverson, 63, of Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin died on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital under Hospice Care. He was surrounded by his loved ones and went peacefully after a three year battle with cancer. He was born on May 11, 1947 the son of Gerald and Doris (Oftedahl) Halverson. He graduated from Seneca High School in 1965. He married Marcella (Mae) Whiteaker Jacobson in 1987 at the Utica Church. They later divorced but have always remained very close. Together they have one son, Shawn. David farmed with his dad in rural Soldiers Grove. He enjoyed watching all sports on T.V. especially football and Nascar racing. He loved to play card games and go gambling. He also was an avid deer hunter. David is survived by his dad, Gerald; a son, Shawn Halverson; a sister, Diane Halverson Kuhnke; two nephews, Brian (Amber) Kuhnke and Brice Kuhnke; his love, Marcella Halverson all of Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin; along with many other friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his mother in 2009; two brothers, Darrel in 1940 and Harlan in 1974. Blessed be his memory. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 18, 2010 at the Utica Lutheran Church on Highway 27, rural Ferryville at 11:30 a.m. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Officiating at the service will be Pastor Anna Sorenson, with burial in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers or plants, the family would appreciate memorials to help with final arrangements. The Dommersnaes-Bertram Family Funeral Home of Gays Mills is serving the family.
