David Mageland

David Mageland, 49, of Viroqua, died Friday, February 27, 2015. David Dean Mageland, 49, of Viroqua passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. He was born in Viroqua on September 20, 1965 to Merlin & Lorraine (Larson) Mageland. David was baptized and confirmed at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua where he was a lifetime member. He graduated from Viroqua High School in 1983. As a toddler, he started riding with his dad on the gas truck, sitting on a pillow to see over the steering wheel and eventually became the owner/operator. He also owned and operated the Gays Mills Amoco Station in Gays Mills and made many friends during its operation. A devoted Packer fan, he attended many games and was able to meet several players. He also liked to deer hunt, visit, and enjoyed teasing his nieces and nephews. Dave is survived by his mother, Lorraine of Viroqua; siblings: Brenda (Chuck) Noggle of Viroqua, Gary Mageland of Viroqua, Gretchen (Brad) Johnson of Seneca, and Mike Mageland of Westby; nieces and nephews: Dayna Noggle, Brooke (Chad) Klecker, Nate Noggle, Zach Johnson, Jennifer Johnson, and Mason Mageland; great-niece, Hayden Klecker; lifelong friend, Rich Scott; several aunts and uncles; cousins; Masons dog, Wiggles; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his dad, Merlin Mageland on December 18, 2009; and his grandparents. Blessed be our memory of David Mageland. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua. The Rev. Stephen Minnema will officiate with burial to follow in the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 4 7 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker Street (Hwy 56) in Viroqua. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials to the family are preferred.
