Dennis G. Hird

Dennis G. Hird, age 63, of Seneca, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 12, 2022, at his home with his wife by his side. He was born on March 30, 1959, in Rockford, Illinois to Gene and Delores (Coy) Hird. Dennis attended Boscobel High School. He met Barbara Foley in 1980 and were married on July 9, 1983. He later earned a degree in machine tooling from Southwest Tech. The couple had three children, Amanda, Brittany, and Trisha. Dennis drove five-star truck, milk truck and dump trucks for many years. His pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. Dennis enjoyed classic cars, fishing, taking his grandchildren on trips, and helping others out.

Survivors include his wife, Barb; his children, Amanda (fiancé Trent Heal) Hird, Brittany (fiancé Mikeal Heisz) Hird, and Trisha (fiancé David Gunderson) Hird; his grandchildren, Fame, Alivia, Kylie, Paytin, and Logan; siblings, Deanna Hird, David Hird, and Donnie Hird; mother-in-law, Rose Krachey; stepfather, Bud Krachey; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews; special friends; other relatives and friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Daniel Hird; and his father-in-law, Michael Foley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are appreciated.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Seneca. Fr. Tom Huff will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday, December 16, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the church. Additional visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
