Pinky was born July 31, 1921 to Melvin and Nellie (Nelson) Rudrud of Westby. A graduate of LaCrosse Central High School, she continued her education at Lutheran Deaconess Hospital, School of Nursing, in Chicago, graduating in 1945. On June 21, 1947 she married James T. Lindsay, Jr. Her passion for caring took her to Grandview Hospital and private duty nursing. She then returned to the LaCrosse Hospital where she acted as the Director of Nursing and preformed duties in surgery and emergency. She finished her career at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in the renal dialysis unit. During her lifetime, she demonstrated understanding and compassion to everyone. Her smile and sense of humor was her trademark. Pinky and Jim loved to dance and truly enjoyed times together with their many friends at the Elks Club, on the river at the "Peppermint Plunge" boathouse or any of their many favorite spots. In later years they took to the road visiting many scenic spots around the country. Pinky was an avid Cubs fan and always hoped they would be in the World Series. A social butterfly, she loved playing cards, reading, and always had a kind word and a hug for everyone she met. She will be greatly missed by there is comfort that she and Jim are once again together and probably dancing and looking for eagles. Pinky is survived by two daughters, Mary (Harlen) Schlachter of Naperville, IL, and Sara (David) Hinrichs of Minnetonka, MN; step-grandchildren: Laura and Matthew Hinrichs and her beloved pet cat, King Cole. She was preceded in death by her parents, and infant daughter, Susan, and her husband, James. Blessed be our memory of Dolores "Pinky" Lindsay.
