Donald James Kellogg

Donald James Kellogg, age 77 of Viola, died Sunday afternoon, February 19, 2006 at the Bethel Home in Viroqua. He was born on August 9, 1928 in Vernon County to Cecil and Myrtle (Selin) Kellogg. On August 20, 1950 he was united in marriage to Geraldine Johnson. Donald farmed in the township of Kickapoo and was a member of the Viola United Methodist Church. He served on several area boards including: Richland County, Viola Village, Township of Kickapoo, Viola Horse and Colt Show where he was the dairy supervisor, and the Richland County Fair Board. Donald was also a 4-H dairy leader and was a member of Vernon County Jersey Breeders and Parish 4 Jersey Breeders. In addition to his wife, Geraldine, he is survived by his three sons, Jim (Sherrie) of Hartland, Greg (Laura), and Andy, both of Viola; five grandchildren: Kim (Brian) Hansen, Mandy Kellogg, Billy Kellogg, Joe Kellogg, and Jessie Kellogg; two great-grandchildren: Evan and Lana Hansen; two expected great-grandchildren; two sisters: Connie (Virgil) Cosgrove of Richland Center and Sandra (Jim) Matthes of Viola; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Viola United Methodist Church. Pastor Doris Clark will officiate with burial in the Viola Cemetery. Serving as casketbearers will be Donalds grandchildren: Brian Hansen, Billy Kellogg, Joe Kellogg, Jessie Kellogg, Kim Hansen, and Mandy Kellogg. Honorary casketbearers are Gary Wubbenhorst, Junior Gilman, Wilfred Lawton, and Ron Curtis. Friends may call on Thursday after 9:30 a.m. at the church. Memorials may be given to the charity of the donors choice. The Vosseteig Funeral Homes Henthorn Memorial Center in Viola is serving the family.
