Donald Schwendinger

Donald A. Schwendinger, a kind and friendly soul known for his handy skills, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2023, at a nursing home in Soldiers Grove, WI. Born on March 16, 1934, to the late Alphons and Catherine (Cleary) Schwendinger, Donald's journey through life was marked by a warm heart, a love for his family, and a commitment to his community.

Donald proudly served his country in the Army from 1956 to 1958, an experience that shaped much of his disciplined and respectful demeanor. Upon his return to civilian life, he dedicated many years to Walker's Garage in Seneca, where he earned a reputation as a skilled and reliable mechanic. Donald's work ethic was further exemplified by his time spent doing farm work, where he was known for his ability to fix anything that came his way.

Beyond his professional life, Donald cherished the time spent hunting with his brothers and nephews. His love for bowling and playing cards was only surpassed by the joy he found in the company of his friends and family, with whom he shared many of his happiest moments.

Donald's memory will be treasured by his two sisters, Virginia McGovern of Kansas City, MO, and Rosemary Weydert of Winthrop, IA; and his brother, James Schwendinger of Cuba City, WI. His legacy will also live on through the many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death not only by his parents but also by three brothers, Anthony, Robert, and John; and two sisters, Kathyn McKillip and Margie Saugling.

Donald's life was a testament to the values of hard work, dedication, and the importance of family. He effortlessly touched the lives of those around him with his amicable nature and willingness to lend a hand whenever needed. Those who knew Donald will remember his warm smile, his hearty laughter, and the ease with which he made everyone feel at home.

As we bid farewell to Donald A. Schwendinger, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of moments that brought joy to others. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 18, 2023, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Seneca. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Donald will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.
