Donald Skrede

Donald Skrede, 91, of Viroqua died Monday, October 26, 2009. Donald F. Skrede, age 91 of Viroqua, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2009 at Norseland Nursing Home. He was born on March 13, 1918 to Albert and Elva (Thompson) Skrede. He married Mary Moen on October 21, 1950 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua. He was employed as a milk hauler, and then delivered gas and worked as a mechanic for DeLap Oil & Gas until his retirement. He loved old cars and enjoyed doing cross word puzzles and making tools to fit the job. Don is survived by his son, Michael (Dawn) of Westby; granddaughter, Jenna Sloan and her daughter, Madilynn Sloan of Westby; grandson, Matthew (Michelle) Skrede and their children: Zander, Hally and Nolan of La Crosse; sisters: Joy Jacobson of Viroqua and June Perso of La Crosse; brothers: Albon Skrede of Viroqua and Paul (Ruth) Skrede of Beloit; sisters-in-law: Muriel Skrede of Cashton and Karen Langel of Viroqua; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary in 2006; brothers: Vaughn and Sherman; sisters: Elizabeth Olson and Darlene Dahl. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua. The Rev. Margaret Eiben Hoversten will officiate with burial in the Viroqua Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
