Donna J. Burkum, age 76 of Bell Center, rural Gays Mills, died Tuesday, February 25, 2014. Donna Jean Burkum, age 76 of Bell Center, rural Gays Mills, died Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at her home. She was born on January 7, 1938 in Crawford County to Warren and Mary (Knoble) Pinkham. In 1956 she graduated from Gays Mills High School and was united in marriage to Herbert Burkum on September 14, 1957. She was the loving mother of four children: Mark, Cheryl, Vickie and Kristina. She lived and was employed in Madison when she was first married, and they returned home to Crawford County in 1960. Donna farmed alongside her husband for many years. She worked for several years at McDonalds Grocery Store and later worked at Advance Transformer in Boscobel, retiring in 2000 after 20 years with the company. In addition to her husband, Herb, she is survived by her children: Mark (Carmen), Cheryl (John) Lopes, Vickie (Brad) Everson, and Kristina Frazier; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her siblings: Leo Pinkham, Lyle Pinkham, Betty Johnson, and Shirley Nelson; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; three siblings: Frank Pinkham, Grace Smith and Mary Harwood; and several brother and sister-in-laws. Blessed be our memory of Donna Jean Burkum. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in Gays Mills. Pastor Lorie Betz will officiate with burial in the Gays Mills Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday after 10:00 a.m. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Gays Mills is serving the family.
