The family was reunited when her father married Ruth Solverson, adding children Oscar and Clarice to the family. Doris completed eight grades of education at Nottingham School in rural Viroqua. While living in Chicago, she married Bill Larson. In the 1960s, Doris and Bill moved back to Wisconsin and lived near Viroqua. Doris worked for the Army Corp of Engineers at the Genoa Dam on the Mississippi River. Bill and Doris later divorced. Doris also worked for Rube and Betty Hanson at Rubes A&W and Lucas Jewelers in Viroqua. On October 17, 1972 Doris married Gerald Bishop. They lived in Viroqua until 1983 and then moved to Wildwood, FL to enjoy their golden years living at Continental Country Club retirement village. Though retired, Doris worked at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church for 12 years and was a very active member. Doris is survived by her devoted husband of 34 years, Gerald. At age 91, he never missed a day visiting Doris at the hospital or nursing home since December 18, 2006. She is also survived by a brother, Chester "Bob" (Bernice) Cade; sister-in-law, Ester Cade; nephews, Loren (Margaret) Cade, Jim (Mary) Cade, and her niece, Marlene (David) Fauske, all of Viroqua. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her step-mother, Ruth; one brother Perry Cade; sister-in-law, Nola Cade; and her niece, Kay (Cade) Wilber. Visitation will be held on Monday after 1:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Lake & Sumter County or the American Cancer Society. In accordance with Doris wishes, her body will be cremated following the funeral and she will be interred at a later date in the Viroqua Cemetery next to her mother.
