Dorothea "Dodi" Brande Pratt, age 75, of Viroqua, WI, went home to her Savior peacefully and surrounded by her family on June 13, 2025. She was born on August 13, 1949, in Moultonborough, NH, to the late Justin Brande and Susan Kennedy Brande.
She is survived by her siblings Susan Price, Frederick Brande, Angela Brande, Hilary Giaccardi, Thomas Brande, and Herbert Brande. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald "Gerry" Raynold Pratt; brother Justin Brande; daughter Gwendolyn LaReau Pratt; and granddaughter Bethany Estee Polowchak.
She grew up in Cornwall, VT, on a farm in a busy household as the oldest of her seven siblings. She graduated from Middlebury Union High School in 1967. She attended Castleton State College, where she studied foreign language, graduating with a BS in Secondary Education for Language in 1972. She spoke German, Spanish, and French.
After being asked several times, Dodi finally married Gerry Pratt in Cornwall, VT, on August 4, 1973, a marriage that lasted almost 50 years until Gerry's passing in 2023. To this union, they were blessed with six children: Gwendolyn Prat, who died in infancy on August 23, 1975; Jessica (James) Hays, Tanager (Van) Polowchak, Corinne (Patrick) Doherty, Andrew (Paula) Pratt, and Danielle (Carlos) Kennedy-LaReau. Dodi has two bonus children, April and Michael.
In her younger years, Dodi enjoyed riding her horse, playing cello, helping on the farm, and spending time with siblings, cousins, and friends. She spent a year in Switzerland and hitchhiked in Europe. Dodi was an avid skier and was a member of her college ski team. She enjoyed reading and literature and was a member of the Enid Literacy Council and the Garfield County Library Board.
Dodi lived in awe of the love and generosity of the family of God since her salvation in 1974. Dodi devoted her time and efforts to serving the family of God alongside her husband as he ministered in several churches in Vermont, Maryland, and Oklahoma. She also loved and served her family at home. One of her greatest achievements was educating all five of her children. Dodi loved her 21 grandchildren and was happiest attending their events, reading to them, encouraging them in school work, and hearing about their many exciting adventures. She was blessed to spend the last months of her life with lots of special hugs from her treasured "kiddies." Her love of music was shared by her children and grandchildren, who were happy to surround her in music as she transitioned to her eternal home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Viroqua Church of Christ. A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Dodi will be laid to rest in the Viroqua Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.vossfh.com.
