Dorothy E. Lunde

Dorothy E. Lunde, age 93, of Westby, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025.

She was born to Selmer Engh and Eleanor (Rude) Paulson on August 11, 1931. Dorothy was baptized and confirmed at Westby Coon Prairie Church and married Roger Lunde on October 14, 1950. Dorothy and Roger lived in Portsmouth, VA for four years while Roger was serving in the United States Navy, but Westby was their home where they built a house and family together.

Dorothy was always a lady of class and elegance, a great cook, a collector of teapots, and a “stubborn ol’ Norwegian”. She spent her working years at Vernon Electric Coop for 20 years, at Midwest Gas for two years, and The Fashion Cellar. Dorothy was active in her community; being a member of the Westby American Legion Post 155 Ladies Auxiliary for 52 years and serving as a past President. She was also involved with Westby Syttende Mai, Snowflake Ski Club, as well as teaching Sunday School Class to three-year-olds at Westby Coon Prairie while serving as secretary for the W-ELCA. Her greatest joy came from raising her boys, caring for her grandchildren, and being blessed with great-grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, Randy and Cory (Christine); her grandchildren: Yanicka, Adam (Amanda), Kjersta (Stan), Sara (Travis), and Chris (Sam); and great-grandchildren: Destiny (Ben), Jadah, Dessa, and Chase. She is further survived by her brother, Donald (Wanda) Engh and their families; “The Mom’s” Nannette, Bonnie, and Monica; brother-in-law, Irvin (Mary) Lunde; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Roger; her son, Greg; her parents; and her step-father, Archie Paulson.

The family would like to thank Vernon Manor for their care of Dorothy the last few years and VMH for their tender care of her and our family when she passed.

A special “elsker deg” to Kay Yanske and Sandra Vold-Brudos for all you did as well.

A memorial service to honor Dorothy will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Vosseteig Funeral Home in Westby. A gathering will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. A private family burial will be held.

In lieu of flowers, Dorothy’s family would like to request any memorials go to Westby First Responders and Country Coon Prairie Church Preservation, Inc.
