Dorothy Mae Shaw

Dorothy Mae Shaw, age 89 of Onalaska, died Saturday January 11, 2020. Dorothy Mae Shaw passed peacefully into heaven at home on Jan 11,2020. She was born May 11, 1930 in Soldiers Grove WI to Millard and Celia (Jackson) Christopherson. She was raised on her parents farm and graduated high school from Soldiers Grove. After graduation she met and married Rodney Shaw on Sept 10, 1947. They raised their two sons, Rod and Mike, between Soldiers Grove, Boscobel and Fennimore while advancing their careers. Dorothy became a cosmetologist and worked with her sister Alvera in Boscobel before starting her own salon in Fennimore. The salon grew and added a clothing line at a downtown location. In 1976 she started the cosmetology and skin care programs on the campus of Southwest Technical College in Fennimore where she taught until retirement in Sept 1995. She was an active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and served on many professional boards and committees including at the state level. Upon retirement she and Rod enjoyed their home, cabin in Hatfield, traveling the country and wintering in Phoenix, Az. Dorothy is survived by her sons Rod (Pam) in Onalaska, Michael (Marcia) in Fond du Lac; her grandchildren Jennifer (Wade) Foley in Oshkosh, Nathan (Megan) Shaw in Holmen; Great Granchildren Owen, Isaac, Gabrielle and Isabelle and many nieces and nephews. She is proceded in death by her parents Millard and Celia; her husband Rod; two sisters Alvera and Darlene; as well as three brothers Harland, Marcellus and Connie. Funeral services for Dorothy will be Friday January 17, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Kickapoo United Lutheran Church on County Rd. J. Pastor Chuck Miller will officiate. A visitation will be Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM before the service. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials should be directed to Kickapoo United Lutheran Church in Dorothys name.
