Dorothy Marie Parr, 75, of rural Viola died Thursday, August 8, 2013. Dorothy Marie Parr, 75, of rural Viola/LaFarge passed away Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Vernon Manor in Viroqua. Dorothy was born in Vernon County on September 3, 1937 to George and Blanche (Gilman) Hammond. She grew up in the Purdy area and graduated from DeSoto High School. On February 11, 1956 she was united in marriage to Duane Parr. After selling their farm near Sugar Grove outside of Westby they moved to the rural La Farge/Viola area where they have lived ever since. Dorothy was a nursing assistant and worked at the Vernon County Home and later Vernon Memorial Hospital. Dorothy was a member of the La Farge United Methodist Church as well as the local home-makers group. She loved to read and do word search puzzles but especially like to spend time with her grandchildren playing "Trouble". Surviving Dorothy is her husband of over 57 years, Duane; children Debra, David and Daniel (Lori) Parr; grandchildren Travis (Nicole), Trevor, Allyson, Kelli and Brittany Parr; great-grandchildren Elleece, Amelia, Ayden and Noah; and siblings Lucille Brudos, Donald (Barb) Hammond, Evelyn (Robert) Wallace, and Carol (Deldon) Hanson. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister Judy. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13, at the La Farge United Methodist Church. Pastor Karen Bankes will officiate. Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker, in Viroqua. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials are preferred.
