Douglas Strangstalien, age 54 of Westby, died Friday, November 28, 2008. Doug Strangstalien, age 54 of Westby died peacefully at his home Friday, November 28, 2008. He was born on February 14, 1954 to Arnold and Mary (Wemette) Strangstalien. He greatly enjoyed living and working on the family farm with his children and wife. He was a loving father and husband, current president and life-long member of Vang Lutheran Church. He took pleasure in driving the children of his bus route in Westby School District every day.He is survived by his wife Debbie; his sons Erik (Bridget), and Evan; his mother Mary; and brothers: Brian (Susan), Scott (Karla) and Mike; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends. His father, Arnold, preceded him in death. His calm presence, generosity, and quiet sense of humor will be greatly missed by his family, neighbors and friends and his special dog, Daisy.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Vang Lutheran Church. Pastor Julie Wollman will officiate with burial in the Vang Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Hwy 14 in Westby. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials may be made to the Bethel Butikk Food Pantry. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
