Duane Roland Dugan Jensen

Duane 'Dugan' Roland Jensen, age 69 of Radisson, Wis., died July 18, 2010. Duane (Dugan) Roland Jensen, age 69 of Radisson, Wis., passed away July 18, 2010, with his wife by his side, at Rusk County Memorial Hospital in Ladysmith, Wis. Duane was born in Viroqua, to Henry and Edith (Thompson) Jensen on March 18, 1941. He graduated from Viroqua High School. Duane married Lorraine (Mahlum) Whitehead and later divorced. They had two children. In May 1982, Duane and Janis Anderson were untied in marriage at Cataract United Methodist Church in Cataract, Wis. He worked for the Vernon County Highway Department and then worked on road construction. He worked as a deputy for the Vernon County Sheriffs Department and did some work with the DNR. After 25 years of service, in March 1996, Duane retired from the Viroqua Police and Fire Department. Duane and Janis moved to their home in Radisson. There Duane enjoyed his fishing, hunting and his 6 a.m. coffee and conversation with the guys at Village Kitchen Restaurant, and helping out North American Hydro at Arpin Dam. In Viroqua he was also a hunter safety instructor and a member of the Kickapoo Valley 4-Wheeler Club (he pulled and hill climbed). In Radisson he was a member of the Radisson/ Exeland ATV Club (he enjoyed their trail rides) and served as supervisor for town of Radisson. Duane is survived by his loving wife, Janis (Anderson) Jensen of Radisson; a son, Brian Jensen of Viroqua; a daughter, Debra Jensen of Viroqua; six grandchildren, Travis Jensen of Grand View, Wis., Trevor, Derek and Karrie Jensen of Viroqua, Amber Fredrickson and friend, Mitch Hale of Viroqua; and Alyssa Haggerty of Viroqua. He especially liked having his grandchildren visit during the summer. He is also survived by four brothers, Harlan (Hannah) Jensen of Onalaska, Marvin (Joleen) Jensen of Turtle Lake, Wis., Robert (Sheila) Jensen of Rockland, Wis., and Kenneth (Ruth) Jensen of Santa Maria, Calif.; four sisters, June (Paul) Thompson of Fort Atkinson, Wis., Mary (Verlyn) Dahl of Viroqua, Betty (Douglas) Ebert of Janesville, Wis. and Donna (Gary) Koopman of Viroqua; a sister-in-law, Joyce Jensen of Vine Grove, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews and their families and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Edith Jensen; and two brothers, David Jensen and Kelly Jensen. Memorial services will be held at the Nash-Jackan Funeral Home in Ladysmith, Wis., on Saturday, July 24, 2010, at 1 p.m. The Rev. Linda Shearer will officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, July 24, 2010, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Services will be held in Viroqua at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, 2010, at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker (Hwy. 56), in Viroqua. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. Edward Peterson will officiate.
