Edith Evangeline Solberg

Edith Evangeline (Olson) Solberg, age 92, of Westby, passed away on June 24, 2024, at Norseland Nursing Home with her family by her side. She was born on August 26, 1931, in Westby to Oscar A. and Edna Olson. Edith married Kenneth B. Solberg on November 12, 1949. They farmed most of their lives on Tri-State Road, Westby, WI. They were avid collectors of Carnival Glass. Edith enjoyed decorating and sewing. She was a demonstrator and sold Home Interiors and Princess House Crystal for many years. She and Kenneth went on several trips, including to Spain. She made many quilt tops for the church to be sent overseas to less fortunate countries. She loved being around her children and grandchildren. In 1999, Edith’s granddaughter, Ashley, had written a paper which was selected, making Edith the first Grandmother of the Year for Westby’s Syttende Mai.

Survivors include her children, Katharine (Roger) Lewison, Nan Jean (Richard) Schultz, and Susanne Mlsna; her grandchildren, Stephanie Enemocon, Ashley (Damian) Dinger, Jon (Melissa) Schultz, David (Erika) Schultz, Kimberly (Thomas) Pokrandt, Justin (Ember) Mlsna, Tiffany (Adam) Jothen, and Kristina (Joseph) Behn; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Loren (Sharon) Olson; sisters-in-law, Annette Olson, Betty Wemette, Ellin Solberg; brother-in-law, David Wemette; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 52 years, Kenneth; two infant sons, Douglas and Bruce Solberg; sisters, Arlene Buros and Karen Swenson; sister-in-law, Helen Olson; brothers-in-law, Nordahl Buros and Alden Solberg; and brothers, Ralph and Paul Olson.

Edith’s family would like to thank the caring staff members at Norseland Nursing Home for the over 12 years of care they provided for Edith.

There will be an intimate family service to celebrate Edith's life at Noon on Monday, July 1, 2024, at Vosseteig Funeral Home in Westby. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A luncheon will be held at the funeral home following the service. Edith will be laid to rest at Our Savior’s Cemetery, rural Westby privately.
