Edna M. Anderson, age 86 of Viroqua, died Friday, May 5, 2006 at the Bethel Home in Viroqua. She was born on March 2, 1920 to Thomas and Inga (Nesset) Lund at home in Vernon County and was baptized in 1932 at the Upper Norwegian Lutheran Church in Coon Valley (Coon Valley Lutheran). In 1938 she graduated from Viroqua High School and then Vernon County Normal School. Edna taught at the one room schoolhouse at White Pigeon School and Evening Star, retiring from the Viroqua Area Schools in 1995. On May 6, 1943 she was united in marriage to Stanley Anderson in Coon Valley. They lived on a farm west of Viroqua from 1943 until 1952 when they moved to Viroqua. Edna was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua and the Dorcas Circle. She was also a previous member of the Sons of Norway, the Vernon County Retired Teachers Association and AARP. She is survived by one son, David (Candi) Anderson of Madison; two daughters, Donna (Dennis Wake) of Stoughton and Debra Anderson (Bruce Swenink) of Viroqua; two grandsons, Peter and Paul Anderson, both of Madison; one sister, Dorothy Hoveland; two sisters-in-law, Rosa Lund and Elaine Lund; one brother-in-law, Walter (Catherine) Schlicht; a niece, nephews, cousins and friends. Her extended family includes Brek, Lisa, Drew, and Chloe Anderson, Erika and Enda ODonohoe, and Harriet August, all of Madison; the Wiltrouts of Viroqua, the Johnson families and Mary Power Suplinski of Colorado. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley on August 7, 1996; a sister, Esther Schlicht; three brothers: Knut, John and Tilford Lund; and a special friend, Clark Johnson. "Think of her as living in the hearts of those she touched for nothing loved is ever lost and she was loved so much" Edna will always be remembered for her apple pies, beautiful flowers, her kind words, and her fried chicken and gravy. She enjoyed: shopping, her school children, crossword puzzles, and collecting beanie babies. Services will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua with Pastor James Steinbrecher officiating. Burial will be in the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday after 3:00 p.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua. Memorials may be given to Vernon Memorial Hospice or the Bethel Home Activities Department. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
