COTTAGE GROVE - Edna "Edie" J. Rose, 74, of Cottage Grove died on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 COTTAGE GROVE - Edna "Edie" J. Rose, 74, of Cottage Grove passed away peacefully in the garden with her favorite flowers on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Nazareth Health and Rehabilitation Center in Stoughton, WI. Born to Bealis Huff and Ella Mae (Jones) Giddings on September 2, 1943, in rural Crawford County, WI. Edna and her eleven siblings were all raised in Crawford County. She graduated from Gays Mills High School, then moved to Milwaukee employed as a Nanny before moving to Madison where she met her husband. Edna married Dennis C. Rose on April 4, 1964, in Gays Mills, Wis., and they resided in Madison and Cottage Grove. Edie later lived in Sun Prairie and at Nazareth Health and Rehab in Stoughton these last three years and seven months. Most people remember Edie for her love of hats, creative style and exceptional friendliness. She worked extremely hard to provide for her family as an in-home caregiver for the disabled and daycare for children, which she also loved doing. She also enjoyed gardening and birds, along with baking the best apple pies. Her love for family and her grandchildren will live forever in our hearts! Edna is survived by her five children, Mark (Rosemarie) Rose, Robert Rose, Trisha (Dr. Karl) Licktieg, Treena Rose, and Rory Rose; 11 grandchildren, Allana, Danielle, Christopher, Dillon, Kayden, Livia, Amelia, Piper, Jenna, Kaylee, Gabe; Brothers, Bealis Giddings Jr., Donald (Eula) Giddings, and John (Judy) Giddings; sisters, Betty (Ed) Jones, Theresa (Rodney) Gardner, and Pat Giddings; sisters-in-law, Donna Giddings and Ruth Giddings; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a lifetime of faithful friends. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Bealis and Ella Giddings; her husband, Dennis C. Rose; brothers, Willard Giddings, Oliver (Jane) Giddings, and Collin Giddings; sisters, Hazel (Lavern) Emerson and Geneva (Glenn) Hammond; sister-in-law, Judy Giddings; brothers-in law, Ed Jones and Herbert Holliday; daughter-in-law, Rosemarie S. Rose. We would like to thank the expert medical teams who worked with her at Dean SSM Health, Fresenius Kidney Care, Heartland Hospice, Capitol Express Transportation and the dedicated staff at Nazareth Health and Rehab for her excellent care! A Private Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel at Nazareth Health and Rehab Center, 814 Jackson St., Stoughton, on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018 at 2 p.m. A Public Celebration of Life was held Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018 with a service starting at 5 p.m. at Coachmans Golf Resort, 984 County Road A, Edgerton. The family will be hosting family and friends between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. with food, fellowship and the music she loved. Wear your hats for Edie! A Celebration of Life with a Committal Graveside service will take place at the BMZ Church in Mt. Zion WI, at 10:00 AM on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018. Wayne Goplin will officiate. Friends may call during a visitation from 9:00-10:00 AM, before the service. Interment will the follow the service at Union Hill Cemetery (Cty.Rd.W and US hwy.61) in Mount Zion, Crawford County, WI. There will be a luncheon at the BMZ church immediately after the burial. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in memory of Edie.
