Ed Zinke, age 85 of Westby, died Monday, November 17, 2008. Edward H. Zinke, age 85 of Westby, died Monday, November 17, 2008 at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby. He was born on April 23, 1923 in Kendall, WI to Otto and Mamie (Keller) Zinke. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946. On February 13, 1947 he married Dorothy Hasse in Mauston, WI. Ed was a lineman for Vernon Electric in Westby for 44 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church and the Syverson-Funk American Legion Post #155. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy on November 29, 1987. On March 19, 2000, Ed married Bette (Bronson) Sveum in LasVegas, NV. Ed and Bette were very active with the Vernon County Salvation Army and then the Bethel Butikk. In addition to his wife, Bette, he is survived by four children: Dianne (Fred) Christian of Madison, Gloria (Francis) Klees of LaCrosse, Donna (Jay) Enlow of Hot Springs, AR, and Ronald Zinke of LaCrosse; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 21, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church with Pastor Dennis Hallemeier officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Coon Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Hwy 14 in Westby. Friends may also call at the church on Friday after 10:00 a.m. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
