Eleanor M. Oftedahl

Eleanor M. Oftedahl, age 94, of Viroqua passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Vernon Manor. She was born April 23, 1929, in Vernon County, Wisconsin. Eleanor graduated from Folsom School and later from the University of La Crosse with a bachelor's degree in teaching.

She married Kenneth Oftedahl in 1948, and together they made Vernon County their home. Eleanor taught at a few schools in La Crosse until teaching and retiring from North Crawford School.

Eleanor is survived by her son, Kent Oftedahl; grandson, Matt (Teresa) Nundahl; great-grandson, Austin Nundahl; siblings, Maline and Marcus; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth; and brothers, AC and Duane Fortney.

Eleanor’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Vernon Manor for their wonderful and compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Vernon Manor or the charity of your choice in Eleanor’s memory.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Eleanor will be laid to rest at a later date in the Viroqua Cemetery.
