Ellen Jane Boom

Ellen J. Boom, age 74, of Eastman, WI, struggled with Parkinson’s Disease for several years. The disease overtook her on September 17, 2023. She passed peacefully in her home. Ellen was born on December 14, 1948, to Edwin and Margrette Nederlo, the youngest of three daughters. Raised on the family farm in rural Mt. Sterling, she attended Girdler Country School and North Crawford School in Gays Mills, graduating in 1967.

On February 3, 1968, she married Thomas Anderson and gave birth to her first son, Olin. Tom died in a truck accident in September of 1970. Ellen and Roger Boom were united in marriage on October 23, 1971, and had two children, Michelle and Brian. They all enjoyed country farm life. Ellen was always involved in the everyday tasks that a crop and livestock operation required. They spent 14 years on a farm outside Marquette, IA. In 1988, they moved to the Eastman, WI area, making that their final family home.

Ellen was interested in horses and horse activities her entire life. She rode, trained, raised, purchased, and sold quality horses and ponies. Always promoting horse events for youth.

Ellen is survived by her husband, Roger; three children, Olin Anderson, Michelle Miles, and Brian Boom; sisters, Linda Nederlo and Zelda Clark; cousins, Cathy Davenport and Steve Mohr; several grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Thomas Anderson; and son-in-law, Harold Miles Jr.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Vosseteig Funeral Home in Gays Mills. A private burial will be held for the family at the Mt. Sterling Lutheran Church Cemetery. Online Condolences may be expressed at www.vossfh.com.
