Ellen (Runice) Lewison, 84, of Viroqua died Saturday, March 6, 2010. Ellen Marie (Runice) Lewison, age 84 of Viroqua, passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Bethel Home in Viroqua. Ellen was born on January 31, 1926 in Sterling Township, Vernon County to Clarence and Anna (Brudos) Runice. She graduated from Viroqua High School in 1944 and was united in marriage to Tilmer Lewison on June 20, 1945. They farmed in Franklin Township until Tilmers death in 1985. She was an active member of the Kickapoo United Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for a short time, was a member of the Church Circle and the WELCA. Ellen enjoyed quilting for the Lutheran World Relief. She also had been a member of the Mason City Homemaker Club and the Mason City Community Club. She is survived by her son David of Viroqua; two daughters: Mary (Michael) Christopherson of Verona and Linda Servais of Chaseburg; two grandchildren, Eain and Brenna Servais and other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Marie; her parents; a sister, Irene Cox; an infant son, Larry; a sister: Lylith Wedwick; her brother, Obed Runice; brothers-in-law, Wilmer Wedwick, Olaf Gronvold, Oliver Potts; nephews: Ernie Runice, Brent Ames, Jeffrey Ames and many other relatives. Ellen was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed. Blessed be her memory. The family wishes to thank the Bethel Home staff, Dr. Radcliff and Hospice for the care that Ellen received. Thanks to Pastor Adolf Quast, Pastor Paul Carlson and Pastor Steve Fossum. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Kickapoo United Lutheran Church. Pastor Paul Carlson will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker (Hwy 56) in Viroqua. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
