Elna B. Borgen

Elna B. Borgen, 93, of La Crosse, died Sunday, June 26, 2011 Elna Borghild (Lee) Borgen, La Crosse, WI, 93, died June 26, 2011. She was born in Westby, Wisconsin, March 25, 1918, to John and Dina (Larson) Lee. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Westby. After graduating from Westby High School, Elna attended Wisconsin Business University in La Crosse. Before her marriage she was employed as the Child Welfare Worker of Vernon County. Elna married Luther S. Borgen May 31, 1943. She worked in many capacities in the churches where she and Luther served. Her great love of music endures in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Elnas faith in God and her love and concern for others were an inspiration to her family, friends, and to all who touched her life. She is survived by a son, N. John Borgen (Janice), St. Louis Park, MN; a daughter, Christine (Dr. William) Drotning, Albuquerque, NM; three grandchildren: Elizabeth Drotning Hartwell (Seth), Dr. Joel Borgen (Dr. Kristina), and Nathan Borgen; and one great-granddaughter, Anna Hartwell. Other survivors include a niece, five nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pastor Luther Borgen; her parents; three sisters, Rachel Benson, Dagmar Schoenecker, and Frances Ross; and two grandsons, Michael and Eric Drotning. Funeral services will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, La Crosse, on Saturday, July 2 at 11 a.m. Visitation will begin one hour before the service. Burial will be at Coon Prairie Cemetery, Westby. Arrangements are being provided by Vosseteig Funeral Home, Westby. Memorials are gratefully received for Bethany Lutheran Homes, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, La Crosse; and Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Westby.
