Elnora M. Swenson

Elnora M. Swenson, 89, of Viroqua died Sunday, April 15, 2012. Elnora Marie Swenson, age 89, of Viroqua found peace April 15, 2012 while at the Bethel Home after a brief illness. She was born on December 31, 1922 to Sever and Mary (Tandley) Swenson. Elnora was baptized and confirmed at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, and was a member of the Dorcas circle and enjoyed quilting. She graduated from Viroqua High School, but continued to live on the farm helping her family. In 1993 she moved to Viroqua and in 2007 went to Maplewood Assisted Living where she enjoyed all the activities with her many friends. Elnora brought much love to those around her and was like a second mom & grandmother to her nieces and nephews. She loved baby sitting and just being outdoors. She was a wonderful caregiver to her parents, sister and brother. She is survived by her nieces: Eldoris Ekern and Mary Solverson; nephews: David (Gladys) Swenson, Roger (Karen) Swenson, Steve Swenson; great nieces and nephews: Alissa (Cal) Jorgensen, Ryan (Jessica) Swenson, Rod Swenson, Sonja (Paul) Bjerkos, Ellen (Morris) Natwick, Patty (David) Fetting, Brent Ekern, Brian (Jane) Ekern, Shelly (Roy) Gunn, Jody (Josh) Stahly, Jeffery (Jaime) Swenson, Jenny (Carl) Zube, and Mark Swenson; many great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Sever Swenson; sister, Alma Swenson; brothers: Edwin, Sigfred, Clifford and Tillman; nephews: Frederick Swenson and Douglas Swenson. Blessed be our memory of Elnora Marie Swenson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 18 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua. The Rev. Lindsay Paul Jordan and The Rev. Margaret Eiben Hoversten will officiate with burial in the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends & relatives may call on Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker St., (Hwy. 56) in Viroqua and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers and plants memorials may be made to the charity of the donors choice. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
