Elva (White) HealMarch 4, 2005 Elva (White) Heal, age 89 of Viola, WI, died Friday, March 4, 2005 at the Bethel Home in Viroqua. She was born on February 3, 1916 in Cuba City, WI, to Robert and Sadie (Murray) White. On June 1, 1938 she was married to Delbert Eddy. He preceded her in death in 1949. On May 29, 1959 she married Lester Heal of Viola and adopted his children, Lana and Dana. Elva was a teacher for 35 years. She graduated from Cuba City High School in 1933 and attended Platteville Normal School, graduating from the one-year course in 1934. She spent 17 summers completing her Bachelor of Education degree. Twenty-one years of her teaching career were spent serving in one-room country schools. In Lafayette County, she taught in the Elmo, Red, Carr and Silverthorne schools. In Vernon County, she taught in the Plainview School. The last 14 years of her teaching career were spent teaching 7th and 8th grade math and science in the North Crawford School District. She retired in May of 1975. Elva was a member of the Viola United Methodist Church and served as an officer in both the local and state units of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the White Shrine, Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary for 45 years and the Delta Kappa Gamma Society. She is survived by her husband, Lester Heal; daughter, Lana (William) Wheeler of Richland Center and son, Dana (Sherry) Heal of Watertown, WI; grandchildren: Molly (Steve) LeGrave of Luxemborg, WI, Matt Wheeler of Savage, MN, Jamey Heal of Coralville, IA, Mandy (Jim) Sherriff of Monmouth, IL, and Jenny Heal of Waunakee, WI; one great-granddaughter, Leah Sheriff; one sister-in-law, Bonnie (Carlyle) Sherry of Viroqua and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Merle White, and her first husband
