Erik Tomas Haugen

Erik Tomas Haugen, age 30 of Westby, died Monday, December 11, 2006 as the result of an automobile accident. Erik was born in Viroqua on September 18, 1976 to Arne and Terrie (Tainter) Haugen. He was baptized at North Coon Prairie Lutheran Church and confirmed at Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. He graduated from Westby High School in 1995 and went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin Madison with a degree in Scandinavian Studies. He owned and operated ETHCO Futures and Options, enjoyed golf and getting together with his family. Erik loved his daughter, Siri Anne with all of his heart. Surviving Erik are his parents, Arne and Terrie Haugen of Westby; his maternal grandparents, Keith and Marian Tainter of Westby; his paternal grandfather, Erling Haugen of Norway; his daughter, Siri Anne Haugen and her mother, Jenny Clark. He is further survived by a sister, Anne (Adam) Walz of Holmen and nephews: Lucas, Gabriel, and Cole Walz; maternal uncles: Jeff Tainter and Mark (Kim) Tainter, all of Westby; maternal aunts: Lorie (Mike) Brown of LaCrosse, Julie Johnson (Will) of Holmen, and Mary Holte of Westby; a paternal uncle and aunt: Bjorn Haugen and Karin (Frode) Alhaug, all of Norway. Additionally, he had several cousins, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by paternal grandmother, Reidun of Norway and one cousin, Alycia Brown. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 18, 2006 at the Westby-Coon Prairie Lutheran Church in Westby. Pastor Dennis Hallemeier will officiate with burial in the Coon Prairie Cemetery. Casket bearers for the service will be: Andy Bakkum, Jay Johnson, Brett Holte, Curt Stakston, Andy Johnson, Matt Tainter, Kyle Tainter, and Craig Tainter. Friends may call at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 South Hwy 14, Westby on Friday, December 15, 2006 from 3 6:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated.
