Ernest 'Ernie' LaVerne Rundle, age 86 of Soldiers Grove, died Saturday August 17, 2019. Ernie was born in Madison WI, on February 8, 1933, to LaVern Ernest and Evelyn Magdalean (Gunderson) Rundle. He graduated from Soldiers Grove High School in 1951. He married Virginia Foss on November 24, 1950. After Virginia died, he found love again with his best friend and companion Linda George who has also preceded him in death. Ernie was a mans man that worked long hard hours as a crane operator mostly for the Lunda Construction Company. He was extremely proud of his membership and fellowship in Operating Engineers Local 139. When he wasnt working, Ernie was a collector of guns, and a motorcycle enthusiast. He loved to hunt partridge, deer, pheasant and squirrels. He loved riding his horse, Bob, in parades. Ernie was a member of the Luther Memorial Church in Gays Mills. Ernest is survived by his children; Rebecca (Randy) Steinbach, Nancy Fetterolf, John (Janet) Rundle, Jeffrey (Kimberly) Rundle, and Kristine Nelson, his nine grandchildren; Dawn Rundle, James (Adrienne) Steinbach, Erica Rundle, Michael Steinbach, Leanne Rundle, Jason (Kristen) Rundle, Jen (Michael) Rundle-Lopes, Tristan George, and Haley Nelson, his five great-grandchildren; Tre and Jocelyn Adams, Scarlett and Graham Lopes, and Victoria Rundle, and by his brother Dwaine Rundle and a nephew Mitch Rundle. He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia, his partner in life Linda, his parents, son-in-law Richard Fetterolf, and Derrick George. Funeral services for Ernie will be Wednesday August 21, 2019, at 12-noon at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Soldiers Grove. Pastor Carrie Anderson will officiate. Friends may call during a visitation at the church from 11:00 to 12:00 before the service. A luncheon reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials should be directed to Luther Memorial Church in Gays Mills, Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Soldiers Grove, or to the charity of the donors choice in Ernests name.
