Ervin Bentley, 86 of Viola, died Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at his home. Ervin Bentley, 86 of Viola, died Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at his home following a long illness. Ervin was born in Ringle, WI on May 21, 1921 to Clyde and Lila (Kent) Bentley. In 1944 he married Annastasia Seidl and together they raised 5 children. They had moved to the Chicago area in the early 1950s and Ervin worked as a carpenter until his retirement. The couple then moved to the old Military Ridge School House near Patch Grove, which Ervin remodeled. They were married 63 years. Ervin is survived by his wife, Ann; children: Suzanne Hamilton of Wilder, ID; James (Guelda) Bentley of PawPaw, IL; Barbara (Mike) McNeill of Bartlett, IL; John (Lois) Bentley or Serena, IL; and Catherine (Mike) Augelli of Viroqua, WI; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Lori (James) Dayton and children, Alicia and Michael; Paul (Dawn) Bentley and children Samantha, Paul, Sara, Preston; Janine (James) Laechelt and children Richard and Jessica; Joseph (Elizabeth) Augelli; and Jennifer Augelli. He is further survived by two brothers, Ray of New York and Walter or Oregon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 13 siblings: Mildred Bendshadler, Gerald, Verne, Ralph, and Merlyn Bentley all of Oregon; Roy, Myron, Laura, Ronald, Hazel, Merrill, JP Bentley and Nina Brown all of Wisconsin. Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2007 at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 West Decker (Hwy 56) in Viroqua. Father Robert Cook will officiate with burial on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Union Cemetery in Patch Grove, WI. Friends may call at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua on Friday from 4:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Due to road construction please use the parking lot entrance block south of Hwy 56. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
