Ervin W. Veglahn, age 87 of Genoa, died Thursday, March 6, 2008. Ervin W. Veglahn, age 87 of Genoa, died Thursday, March 6, 2008 at the Gundersen-Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse. He was born the son of Edward and Elsie (Hass) Veglahn on December 23, 1920 at the home he has lived in all of his life. On April 20, 1946 he was united in marriage to Beverly Lorraine Morris in Stoddard and she joined him on the Veglahn homestead farm. Together they have celebrated nearly 63 years of marriage. Ervin enjoyed working his farmland with his 1948 Ford 8N tractor which he bought new. He also enjoyed word search puzzles and to sit and visit with family and friends. Ervin helped build the St. Lukes Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stoddard. Ervin was also a school bus driver for DeSoto Area Schools for 27 years. In addition to his wife, Beverly, he is survived by five children: Shirley Veglahn of LaFarge, Jerry (Kathy) Veglahn of Stoddard, Rita (Paul) Magnuson, of Stoddard, Betty (Gene) Hunter of DeSoto, and Dwight (Patty) Veglahn of Genoa; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ona Veglahn of Viroqua; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Dorothy Webb, Viola DeGarmo, and Irene Venner; and his brother, Leonard "Buster" Veglahn. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 10, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lukes Evangelical Lutheran Church, 219 E. Oak Street, Stoddard, WI. Pastor Robert Dommer will officiate with burial in the Bad Axe German Cemetery, Rural Genoa. Friends may call on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 320 Main Street (Hwy 82) in DeSoto, WI. Friends may also call at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of DeSoto is serving the family.
