Esther L. Bergh, age 84 of Westby and formerly of Cashton, died Saturday, November 28, 2009 Esther L. Bergh, age 84 of Westby and formerly of Cashton, died Saturday, November 28, 2009 at the Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua. She was born on March 13, 1925 to Lyndahl and Hilma (Hanson) Skoglund. She married LaVerne Wang and they later divorced. On August 9, 1961 she married LeRoy Bergh. They owned and operated LeRoy and Esthers Place and The Townhouse Bar and Restaurant, both in Cashton. Esther was also the Kitchen Supervisor and later Laundry Supervisor at Rolling Hills Nursing Home in Sparta. She loved cooking and sewing, often not using a pattern for the clothing she made. She is survived by her children: LeRoy Wang of Westby, Linda Bowen of Westby, Ellen Brekke of Whitehall, Sherry (Dale) Fromm, Greg (Cindy) Bergh of West Salem, Jon Bergh of Roberts, and Corinne (Steve) Severson of Mindoro; 12 grandchildren: Chad, Dawn, Mark, Nicole, Kristen, Nathaniel, Jaime, Jennifer, Summer, Jon, Hannah, and Abby; several great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; two brothers: Alfred and Palmer Skoglund; sister, Hazel Johnson; brother-in-law, Alvin Johnson; sister-in-law, Angeline Skoglund, grandson, Dustin Wang, great-grandson, Anthony Joe Theige Parr, and niece, Karen Pike. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. Pastor Dennis Hallemeier will officiate with burial in the Coon Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Hwy 14 in Westby. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
