Esther Lester, age 89 of Viroqua, died Saturday, January 10, 2009. Esther Lester, age 89 of Viroqua, died Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Vernon Manor in Viroqua where she had been a resident for 3 years. Esther was born in Utica Township, Crawford, County, Wis. on August 25, 1919 to Robert and Oline (Egge) Froiseth. She was baptized and confirmed at South West Prairie Lutheran Church. On July 18, 1942 she married Fred H. Lester and they farmed at rural Gays Mills until moving to Viroqua in September of 1992. She enjoyed her Ladies Aid and circles at Mt. Sterling and Immanuel Lutheran Churches, especially quilting for the World Relief. She is survived by a daughter, Linda (Jim) Reynolds of Viroqua; two granddaughters: Dawn (Rick) Olson of LaCrosse and Sheila (Terry) Olson of Viroqua; three great-grandchildren: Ryan, Megan and Ashlee Olson; a sister-in-law, Blanche Froiseth; several nieces and nephews; extended family at Vernon Manor and a special friend, Diana Saegrove. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Fred (1995); a great-grandson, Adam; her brothers: Stanley, Rueben, Marvin, Harold, and Arvid; a sister, Mabel Cole; brother-in-law, Milford Cole; and sister-in-law, Selma Froiseth. Esther was a giving and caring person who touched many lives. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Sterling Lutheran Church. The Rev. Dr. Steven Fossum will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker (Hwy 56) in Viroqua. Friends may also call on Tuesday after 12:00 noon at the church. Memorials may be given to the Vernon Manor Activity Fund, Mt. Sterling Memorial Fund or the charity of the donors choice. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
