Eunice McClurg, 86, of Viroqua died Friday, April 9, 2010. Eunice McClurg, 86, of Viroqua died Friday, April 9, 2010 at Vernon Memorial Hospital. Eunice was born in rural Viroqua on March 6, 1924 to Albert and Inga (Christianson) Egeness. In 1941 she graduated from high school and one year later was united in marriage to Blair McClurg. Eunice worked for the Federal Land Bank until her retirement in 1987. She was very active in the VFW and Eagles Auxiliaries and a longtime member of Viroqua Church of Christ. Eunice was given the Mrs. Eagle award and also inducted into the Eagle Auxiliary Hall of Fame. She also enjoyed bowling, golfing and playing cards.Eunice is survived by Blair, her husband of 67 years; sons, Ken and David (Susan) McClurg; daughter, Nancy Bongers (John Solverson); 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by infant son, James Robert; son-in-law, Bruce Bongers; daughter-in-law, Sandy McClurg; and siblings, Gladys Sutterfield, Herbert, Stephen and Albert (Stub).Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Church of Christ in Viroqua. The Reverend Dr. Steven Fossum will officiate with burial in the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family for a memorial.The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.family.
