Evelyn E. McClurg, 94, of Viroqua died Monday, July 29, 2013. Evelyn Eleanor Ogren McClurg passed away on Monday, July 29, 2013 at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua. She was born February 6, 1919 in Churdan, Iowa, to Victor and Mathilda Ogren. She lived most of her childhood in the Churdan area and then married Mahlon Robert McClurg on January 2, 1942. Together they farmed in the Jefferson Iowa area until March of 1955 when they moved to a farm at Moorland, IA. In 1958 they moved to a rented farm near Gays Mills. In that same year they bought a small farm and Mahlon began selling insurance. Evelyn was a homemaker and mother all of her married life. They moved to Viroqua in 1966 where they eventually retired. Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, Mahlon Robert McClurg. She is survived by three children, David (Kathy) of Viroqua, WI, Susan (Ronald) Leeser of Lancaster, WI, and Neal (Heidi) of Wells, MN; Eleven grandchildren: Beth (Tim) Lee, Kent (Renee Stroh)McClurg, Amy (Bill) Arbuckle, Dawn (Jared) Long, Rebecca Leeser Andree, Kirk Leeser, Travis (Amy) Leeser, Brett (Teresa) Leeser, Dan (Shawna) McClurg, Ty (Jessica) McClurg, Kristen (Jon) Friday; 23 great-grandchildren; brother Merle (Georgia) Ogren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 10:30 at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker (hwy 56) in Viroqua. Al Ogren and Ralph McClurg will officiate with burial to follow in the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and also on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 10:30. In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Evelyns name to the Zambia Mission Fund, P.O. Box 3393, Abilene, TX, 79604-3393. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
