Florence Wilkison

Florence C. (Hysel, Cather) Wilkison, age 106, of La Farge, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at Vernon Manor in Viroqua, WI. She was born on November 27, 1919, on the home farm in Tunnelville, between La Farge and Viola, WI. Florence graduated from 8th grade at the Tunnelville school. She married Joe Cather in 1937, and they had five daughters: Colene Ann (Wayne) Wirts, Emogene (Henry) Horton, Judith Kay McCumber, Janice Aleda (Burns) Grubbs, and Helen Jo (Grant) Zitzmann.

Florence never met a stranger. She lived a long and full life and touched many people with her love and kindness. Florence had a passion for helping others and worked a variety of jobs including farming, waitressing, and in-home care. In her retirement years, she traveled around the United States for various family functions. She also traveled to Europe and Asia.

Florence is survived by her daughters Emogene, Judi, and Helen Jo along with 105 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; her daughters, Colene and Janice; four grandchildren; her brothers, Jonathan and Donald Hysel; and her sister, Freda Meyers.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at the La Farge Clinic, Vernon Manor, and St. Croix Hospice for their wonderful care and support.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at the La Farge Free Methodist Church. A funeral service for Florence will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026, at the La Farge Free Methodist Church. Pastor Mark Phillips will officiate.
