Frances B. Johnson

Frances B. Johnson, age 89 of Viroqua, died Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at the Vernon Manor Nursing Home in Viroqua. She was born in Viroqua on November 4, 1917 to Frank and Grace (Morrison) Johnson. She graduated from Viroqua High School in 1936. She then worked at the First National Bank in Viroqua retiring in 1979 after over 40 years as secretary of board of directors and assistant vice president. As an active member of the Church of Christ in Viroqua, Frances worked in the Primary Department for over 30 years and belonged to the Missionary Society. She also was a member of the Royal Neighbors and the VFW Auxiliary. Frances is survived by her sister, Merle Hood of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; several cousins and their families; and special friend, Helen Oldenburg and her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lucille; brother, Lawrence, who was killed in action in 1943 during World War II; and one brother-in-law, William Hood. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 29, 2007 at the Viroqua Church of Christ. Nathan Prong, Minister, will officiate with burial in the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, June 28 from 4 6 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 West Decker (Hwy 56) in Viroqua. (Due to road construction, please enter the parking lot block south of Hwy 56) Friends may also call at the church on Friday after 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
