Frances L. Sveum, 84, of Westby died Thursday, October 06, 2011. Frances was born in Westby on March 27, 1927 to David and Anna (Lindvig) Hoilien and spent her childhood growing up in Ipswich, South Dakota. She was united in marriage to James Sveum and they settled back in Westby where Frances taught school. She was a very active member of Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church and, among other things was known for her many beautiful quilts. Frances is survived by sons David (Krissy) and Phil (Patty) Sveum; grandchildren Jami (Marc) Cregan, Jessica Sveum (Rob Snyder), Anna Sveum (Vince Vvanti), Molly Sveum (Bryan Shade), Andy Sveum; great-grandchildren Christopher Cregan, Layla Vvanti, Kamden Sveum; many step-grandchildren, step-great-granchildren; nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband James; sons Thomas and Jerry; brother Donald Hoilien; and sister Delilah Berger. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 10, 2011 at Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. Pastor Julie Wollman will officiate with burial in Coon Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, from 12 to 3 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home (708 S. Main) in Westby and also on Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11.The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
