Francis P. Finley, 85, of Viroqua died on Saturday, July 23, 2011. Francis P. Finley, 85, of Viroqua died on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua. Francis was born to Richard and Rose (Leahy) Finley on March 18, 1926 in La Crosse. He was raised and attended school in Rising Sun and attended high school in Seneca. In September of 1948 Francis was united in marriage to Mary Louise Dolan. He was farm manager of the Vernon County Farm and later worked at Nelson Muffler until his retirement. Francis enjoyed retirement spending time with family and his special dogs. He was also a very devout Catholic and attended church daily for many years. He was a loyal member of St. James Catholic Church in Rising Sun during the earlier part of his life and then became a member of St. Marys Catholic Church where he had been a member for over 50 years. Francis is survived by his children: Mark Finley, Francis M. Finley (Charlene Wolfe), Kay (Terry) Thorson; grandchildren: Luke (Michelle) Thorson, Matthew (Melissa) Thorson, Ann (Ryan) ODonnell, Shane (Michelle) Finley, Shad Finley, Melissa (Chad) Vikemyr, Mikayla Finley; 8 great-grandchildren; brother William (Lois) Finley; sisters-in-law Betty Finley and Berniece Brockway; and many nieces, nephews cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Louise; sons Gregory and Michael Finley; his parents; brothers Donald, Gerald, Joseph (Betty) Finley; and sisters-in-law Lucille and Lorraine Dolan. Funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Viroqua. Burial will be at St. James Cemetery in Rising Sun. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 12. Memorials may be given to the St James Church at Rising Sun for repairs or the Vernon Manor Activity Fund. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
