Franklin (Bud) Prucha, age 79, died Monday evening June 12, 2006 at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua, Wisconsin. Franklin was born on November 19, 1926 in the Township of Clinton, Vernon County, Wisconsin to Frank and Tena (Kirking) Prucha. Franklin served in WW II on the submarine USS Runner as a torpedo man from 1943-1946. His ship was in Tokyo Bay at the Peace signing. He was also a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Submarine Silent Service of WWII. Franklin married June Marshall on November 28, 1946. They had two daughters, Sandra and Judy. They lived in Madison, Wisconsin. He worked as a semi-driver for Ruan Transport for 28 years. In 1983, he retired to the family farm on Cherry Valley Road in Richland County. He is survived by his wife June; two daughters: Sandra Haak of Cottage Grove, and Judy (Jerry) Crotsenberg on the family farm; six grandchildren: Jeff (Mickey) Haak of Evansville, Jim (Jesi) Haak of Deerfield, Julie (Jeff) Fraser of Muscoda, Jerry Crotsenberg of Richland Center, and Jeana Crotsenberg (fianc Julian Pierre) of Onalaska; ten great-grandchildren: Jack and Sam Haak, Tyler and Moli Mae Haak, Jonathan, Jacob and Joey Fraser, Lane, Brianna, and Hannah Crotsenberg; Step mother-in-law Hazel Marshall of Janesville; Brother-in-law Harvey (Dorothy) Miller of Graton, California; Sister-in-law Peggy (Duane) Paull of Oshkosh, and several nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents and mother and father-in-law, Verna and Sam Marshall, he was preceded in death by his sister Geneva Miller, and an infant son. Frank and June enjoyed almost 60 years of marriage. He was a devoted and loving family man who cherished his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He took great pride in the family farm and loved the beautiful hills and valleys of rural Wisconsin. Funeral services for Franklin will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2006 at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 West Decker (Hwy 56) in Viroqua. The Reverend Dr. Steven Fossum will officiate with burial in the Vernon Cemetery. Friends may call at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday or after 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
