Fred L. Schlegel, age 58, of Gays Mills, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2020. He was born May 2, 1961 to Donald and Mary Lou (Spangenberg) Schlegel. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding motorcycle, playing cards, shooting pool, playing his guitar, and singing. He also enjoyed spending time with nieces, nephews, and family friends. Fred also enjoyed taking care of the family dogs, Daisy and Maggie. Survivors include his wife Jennifer Schlegel; his children, Christopher and Jessica (Rodney) Schlegel, both of Gays Mills; his brother Donald Schlegel Jr.; his sister Mary Martinez; brothers-in-law Louie (April); Albert (JoAnn), Danny (Barb) Eitsert; sisters-in-law Deanna (Greg) Saucke and Stacy Eitsert; brother-in-law Juan Rivera; nieces and nephews: Amanda (Dustin), Donald III, Josh (Val), Treasa (Jim) Yolanda (Refueio), Juan (Dawn) Ethan (Krista), Elias, Brok (Brittney) Mindy (Eric), Nathan, Danielle (Jason), Samantha (Adam), Katie, Nikki (Tyler), Reggie, Morgan, Laura; many great-nieces and nephews; special family friends: Emmett Heisz Jr., Gilly Ronnfedt, Kayla Fortney and many more. Fred was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Mary Lou Schlegel; his sister Leona Rivera; his great-niece Malani Rivera; father-in-law L. Dale Eitsert; mother-in-law Doris Eitsert; sister-in-law Robin Eitsert and brother-in-law Galeon Eitsert. Fred will always be remembered for his famous sayings: “In about 30 minutes the fish should be hammering: and “Oh Behave.” Private services will be held at a later date.
