Frederick Jerome "Pete" Howell, age 80 of Viroqua, died Monday, July 25, 2011 Frederick Jerome "Pete" Howell, age 80 of Viroqua, died Monday, July 25, 2011. He was born on Oct. 31, 1930 to Fred and Jessie (Everson) Howell. On Sept. 15, 1951 he married Eileen Kelly in LaCrosse. They farmed on Nottingham Ridge, rural Viroqua, until moving into Viroqua. He had worked for the Vernon County Highway Dept. for 20 years. Pete was a member of the Bad Axe Lutheran Church, Purdy and Eagles Aerie 2707. He is survived by two sons, Roy Howell of Viroqua and Michael Howell of Gays Mills; two granddaughters: Alyssa and Crystal Howell; two grandsons, Joshua and Eric Howell; 11 siblings: Joe (Darlene), Myron (Helen), Eloda (Paul) Penchi, Sylvia Howell, Sandy (Ralph) Pedretti, Jill (Marv) Bailey, Beuford (Dolly), Jim, Silas (Doris), Karl and Eunice Hastings; daughter-in-law, Kay Howell; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Jerry and Dennis, his wife, Eileen who died on July 10, 2006 and two brothers, Martin and Veldo. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 29, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bad Axe Lutheran Church. Pastor Don Greven will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker (Hwy 56) in Viroqua. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
