Gale Vernon Bohland, age 83, passed away on January 24, 2022, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. He was born July 29, 1938, in Vernon County to Percy and Gertrude (Marks) Bohland. Gale grew up on farms in Retreat and Cashton and graduated from Cashton High School in 1956. He married Shirley Bjornstad in 1959. Gale worked various jobs throughout his life, including a cheese maker, manager of the Viroqua Whey plant, and as a truck driver both over the road and locally. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and hunting. He was a man of few words but showed his love through actions to friends and family. Gale was always willing to help anyone where he could and will be dearly missed. He will be fondly remembered by two daughters, Kelly (Jim) Anderson and Tammy Bohland, and one son Kurt (Tiffany) Bohland; their mother, Shirley Bohland; Grandchildren: Erik (Trace) Anderson, Ashley (Anthony) Peterson, Sirona (Niko) Marshall, Everett Bohland; Great-Grandchildren: Natalie and Isla Anderson, Maggie Peterson, and Natalie Marshall; two sisters, Marie and Beatrice; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and step-father, brother Marion; sister, Lenice; and other loved family members. Per Gale’s wishes, no services will be held.
