Garry Scott Marta

Garry Scott Marta, age 68, of rural Genoa, WI, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 2, 2026, at his home. He was born on October 28, 1957, in Chicago to the late Henry and Bertha (Ciszek) Marta. He graduated on June 17, 1975, from Marie Sklodowska Curie Metropolitan High School in Chicago. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He honorably served his country in the military police. After his military service, he attended Richard J. Daley College where he earned an associate degree in Police Science. He worked at the Morton Grove Police Department, retiring as a police commander and later moved to Wisconsin where he worked at Fort McCoy. He married Janette Paul on April 26, 1980.

Survivors include his wife, Janette; his daughter, Rachel (David) Knutson; his son, Garry Paul Marta and his grandchildren, Izabeau and Auriel Knutson.

Garry was preceded in death by his parents.

A Funeral Service for Garry will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua. Visitation will be held from Noon until the time of the service. Burial with full military honors will follow at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.
