Gary Dean Simonson

Gary Dean Simonson, age 75, of Viroqua, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022, at his home. He was born September 26, 1946, in Viroqua to Carol and Geneva (Geddes) Simonson. Gary’s family moved to Illinois when he was a young teenager. Following his schooling, he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1966, where he served for two years. Following his service, he worked for Morgan Linen in Aurora, Illinois. Around 1980, Gary moved to Vernon County to be closer to his parents. Gary loved playing baseball, the Green Bay Packers, visiting with family and friends, and his dog, Rex. Survivors include two daughters, Stacy (Rodger) Schoo, and Paula Greene; his granddaughters, Carmen and Nora; his siblings, Rodger Simonson and Vicki (Gary) Gordon; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Franklin Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery at a later date.
