Gary L. Hoyum, age 62 of Viroqua, died Saturday, July 12, 2008. Gary L. Hoyum, age 62 of Viroqua, died Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center in LaCrosse. He was born on July 13, 1945 in Viroqua to Harold and Jean (Vance) Hoyum. On May 27, 1972 he was united in marriage to Sharon Egge. Gary farmed and was employed by the Westby Creamery/Dean Foods until 1992. He then continued to farm until his heath failed. He was a member of the Viroqua Church of Christ. In addition to his wife, Sharon, Gary is survived by two children: Lisa (Dave) Kowalczyk and Chad (Kari) Hoyum, both of Viroqua; four grandsons: Casey and Ryan Kowalczyk and Jackson and Alex Hoyum; one sister, Joyce (Alan) Solverson of Viroqua; two brothers: Terry Hoyum and Robert (Barbara) Hoyum, both of Viroqua; his step-mother, Margaret Campbell; three uncles: Fred (Carole) Hoyum, and Carl Oliver and LaVerne Oliver; three aunts: Iva Hoyum, Lillian Hoyum and Janette Vance; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant sister, Cheryl Hoyum; sister-in-law, Lori Hoyum; aunts and uncles: Edwin Hoyum, Norman Hoyum, Gertrude Oliver, Mabel Oliver, Helen and Arnold Emerson, and Evelyn and Noel Nelson, Vernon Vance, Kenneth (Mearl) Vance and Virgil Vance. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Viroqua Church of Christ. Nathan Prong, Minister, will officiate with burial in the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker Street, Viroqua. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday after 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Vernon Memorial Hospice/Home Health Care. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
