Gary Laverne Everson

Gary LaVerne Everson, age 77, passed away at his home in Soldiers Grove on April 15, 2023. He was born December 30, 1945, at his home on the farm in Soldiers Grove to Lawrence and Olga (Olson) Everson. He was a lifetime member of Kickapoo United Lutheran Church where he was baptized, confirmed, and attended services regularly. He graduated from Soldiers Grove High School in 1964, and spent over 40 years farming on the family farm.

Gary enjoyed the game of golf and playing cards. He especially looked forward to meeting his friends at the Mobil Station in Grove. He had a special love for his nieces and nephews and enjoyed attending their sporting events. He will be remembered for his avid love of family gatherings, as they would gather often.

He is survived and will be missed by his three sisters: Charlotte Sherry, Phyllis (James) Benson, Lola (Ron) Olson and one brother, Daniel (Ann) Everson; nieces and nephews: Brent (Pat) Sherry, Brenda (Doug) Belot, Todd (Lorrie) Olson, Amy (Alan) Atwood, Siri (Matt) Walby, Emily (Dan) Wall, Curtis (Britta) Everson, and Beth (John) Koopman; and many great nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Philip Sherry.

Memorials may be made to the Kickapoo United Lutheran Church or North Kickapoo Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023, at Kickapoo United Lutheran Church rural Soldiers Grove. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Gary will be laid to rest at North Kickapoo Cemetery with luncheon to follow.
