Gene Harris

Gene Harris, 86, of De Soto, died Saturday, June 13, 2015. Gene Ray Harris, 86, of De Soto, born on January 1 1929, died Saturday, June 12, 2015. He was born to Russell and Ruby Harris in Viola, WI. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1952. He married the love of his life, Shirley Lisney, in 1954. He was hired as a steamfitter in the Local 601 in 1954 and retired in 1991. He loved building can tractors, fishing, dancing, and carpentry. He is survived by his wife; three children: Pam (Pat) Vanwhye, Jody Harris, and Darcey (Russell) Mankestad; six grandchildren: Tennille, Tiffany, Roxann, Tyson, Charise, and Nicholas; 11 great grandchildren; a brother James (Lois) Harris; a sister Virginia Koone; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Ruby Harris, and a sister, Juanita Strahl. Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm on Monday, June 22, 2015 at the Freeman Lutheran Church. Pastor Doug Anderson will officiate. Friends may call at the church from 11 am till the time of service at 1.
